As you enter you have the planetarium and the camel exhibit. The interesting idea of the zoo is that the zoo focuses on the number of species rather than the number of animal. Here, one can find the most popular animals species such as lions, giraffes, zebras, polar bears and sea lions. Another attractive part of the zoo is the natural-set canal area, home ground of the frightening crocodile! The aquarium itself is a popular area for marine lovers. Artis has a varied selection of freshwater as well as saltwater species and the colored Reef fish.
Other interesting areas are the Botanical Garden, the Geological Museum and last but not least the Zoological Museum.
Free of charge guided tours in English are given every Sunday morning, 11.00 hrs, Monkey Rock ('Apenrots'.)
