Dam Square is the liveliest square in Amsterdam. It’s surrounded by restaurants, cafés, bars and all kind of shops. The square is also the favourite place for some of the most extravagant street performers in Amsterdam. Around the square there are two famous buildings, the Royal Palace once the official royal residence and Madame Tussaud’s wax museum. Dam square is also the home of the National Memorial statue, a monument in honor of the Dutch victims in World War II.
