Nieuwmarkt - This popular and busy square is located at the edge of the red Light district. The imposing castle like building in the middle of the square used to be the weigh house and dates back to 1488. In the early 19th century the weigh house hosted public executions and now it's one of the many cafés surrounding the square. The Nieuwmarkt is a popular place for a fresh drink on a terrace on a bright sunny day and bar hopping at night!
