Surprisingly the Kroller Muller Museum is located in the wooded parkland of the Hoge Kröller – Müller Museum Park de Hoge Veluwe. The National Park de Hoge Veluwe is about 70 kilometers east of Amsterdam. Once at the entrance of the park, you can either drive or borrow a white bicycle free of charge to travel the few kilometers to the museum itself.
This museum offers a collection of 275 works by Van Gogh and other Dutch painters as well as some French Impressionists.
Many probably don’t realize that outside of the Van Gogh Museum there is another museum in The Netherlands, with the second largest collection of Van Gogh, the works in the world – the Kröller – Müller Museum Park de Hoge Veluwe. There are also works by Picasso, Redon, Juan Gris, Seurat and Mondriaan. The accompanying outdoor sculpture garden is the largest in Europe, with numerous sculpture exhibits, and contributes to this museum being an art lover’s dream.
Besides the museum, there is picnicking, hiking and recreation areas where one can relax while the children play on the grass.
