Winterland (end of November – 1st week of
January). Every year in Maastricht, from the last week of November till the first week of January, the Vrijthof is transformed into a winter square.
Carnival (end of February). Maastricht is
the place to be during the carnival festivities. It’s one big party, with people in their “pekskes” (carnival costumes)
Preuvenemint (August). Preuvenemint is a
major culinary event in Maastricht. This 4 day event is held yearly in the last full weekend of August on the Vrijthof.
International Jazz Festival (October). For four
days in a row, Maastricht becomes the capital of jazz in The Netherlands.
